Department of Education

The Clockwork Theatre's Department of Education has a dual focus: first, to reach out to students and teachers in the tri-state area and integrate them into our work, and secondly, to develop a cohesive ensemble of actors through workshop training.

Clock-Work-Shops

The Department of Education has developed a workshop program, designed to help actors collectively work as an ensemble, whilst honing the personal tools and skills which are necessary in order to be effective on stage. The technique examined is founded with Clockwork's mission of exploring complex human relationships in mind, and finds it's basis in the methods of Stanislavsky & Sanford Meisner. The development of an ensemble company will ensure that Clockwork always has a well-trained, diverse pool of actors to choose from on productions, and will advance the quality of our work in the years to come. For more information on becoming a part of the "Clock-Workshops", email Doug Nyman, Director of Education.

Student Outreach

  • Discounted Tickets: Clockwork is happy to provide full-time students $15 tickets at the door for all of our productions. Additionally, teachers and students are encouraged to take advantage of our student group discount. Groups of 10 or more students and teachers will receive tickets at a 60% discount. For more information about our student discounts, or to book a group at an upcoming performance, contact Doug Nyman, Director of Education.
  • Tock-Backs: Following many of our performances, The Clockwork Theatre holds interactive "Tock-Backs" with the actors, creative team, and administrative staff. Tock-Backs are especially valuable for students as it provides the opportunity to meet and interact with artists working in the field. In these open-forum sessions with our audiences we welcome and encourage feedback on any and every aspect of our production, from the design to the thematic content of the play.
  • Internships: Reaching out to students at the high school and college level is at the center of The Clockwork Theatre's Education Department. We hope to involve many of the students in the surrounding areas in each of Clockwork's productions through internships in the artistic, adminsitrative and technical realms of production. We understand the importance of hands on training and practical knowledge for students in this fast-paced industry, and also value the unique viewpoints students bring to their internship work. To learn more about internship opportunities, please email Doug Nyman, Director of Education, or Vincent Vigilante, Technical Director.

New Works

The Clockwork Theatre's New Works Campaign is designed to discover and develop the work of new and up-and-coming playwrights. We are committed to seeking out original, dynamic material, which places an emphasis on exploring complex human relationships. It is our goal to incorporate new works into our seasons in conjunction with selections by established playwrights.
